Stephen Kato
$ .00

Stephen is the twin of Esther who is also up for our Scholarship Program. Bombo Pentecostal Church leaders met the twins and their mother Mary several years ago after the family had been abandoned by the twins' father. The children had already beaten the odds; they both were healthy and without serious impairment. Due to the lack of medical services in rural Africa, it is common for one twin to suffer complications resulting in physical or mental disabilities or sometimes even death. The Church embraced the struggling family by putting Esther and Stephen up for Life With Hope sponsorship, and hiring Mary as a Life Home Mother. The children have since thrived in their new living environment, and Mary has found joy and purpose through pouring herself into the orphaned and abandoned children in the Life Home.

Now living in the Student Housing near the school, Stephen has learned how to focus on his academics, and his grades have steadily improved. He attends Bombo Pentecostal Church where he serves God by playing jazz music and teaching others how to do the same. Stephen is excited to see what the future has in store as he moves on to pre-university. Thank you for helping Stephen grow into the man God designed him to be!

* Please note any amount raised above the amount needed for this candidate will be put toward our other candidates. Once all candidates are fully sponsored, the remaining monies will be put toward our “Area of Greatest Need” .

Esther is meeting with a counselor to help her deal with the emotions resulting from being abandoned by her father. She is placing her trust in God to move forward, and her school performance continues to improve. Esther is excited to see what the future has in store as she moves on to pre-university. Thank you for supporting this young woman to become all she can to the glory of God!

Catherine Namulindwa
$ .00

Catherine had been abandoned by her teenaged parents as a baby once they realized she had albinism. Those who have albinism in the rural parts of Uganda are thought to bring a curse on their families. According to "Under the Same Sun" website, people with albinism are misunderstood, mistreated and even attacked or killed in Africa. Thankfully one of Catherine's aunts took her under her care.

As a young albino girl, Catherine suffered from irritating skin conditions and was required to take precautionary measures to prolong her life. She was also shunned by her peers at school. As she grew older, her aunt became unable to provide simple necessities. Catherine was on the verge of having to drop out of school for lack of tuition. Fortunately she was put on Life with Hope and Ewange sponsorship soon after the Church met her.

Catherine is now 17 years old and currently boards at Donela student housing. Through Life with Hope, she has received the special supplies and clothing needed to protect herself from the sun, and she is finding some relief from her irritating skin conditions. Catherine continues to be involved with the Association for Albinos in Luweero where she is getting creams to manage her skin conditions and guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, mentally, physically and socially. Her emotional health is improving which has helped her academics. She is excited for the opportunity to learn new skills in trade school. Thank you for supporting Catherine, and helping her to show that people with special needs have a place in Ugandan society!

Emmanuel Muwanguzi
$ .00

Emmanuel grew up in extreme poverty with his HIV+ mother plus three other siblings in the town of Kakooge. Emmanuel's older brother Moses is also a candidate for the Align Scholarship Program. Their father died early on in their lives, and their mother passed just last year from ovarian cancer. Emmanuel has been struggling with the loss of his mother. Despite all the family has endured, Emmanuel still nurtures the dream of becoming a mechanical engineer.

Emmanuel is now 18 years old. He has remained in good health and has performed very well academically. He credits Life with Hope support for bringing them this far, and is thankful for the opportunity to move on to pre-university. Thank you for helping Emmanuel realize his dream of becoming a mechanical engineer!

Abraham Ocheng
$ .00

Abraham is the oldest of two boys born to a mother and father who are both HIV+. As a baby, he was put under his Aunt Josephine's care. Abraham's father sold second hand clothes for a living and used to send some money to Aunt Josephine to help her care for Abraham. However, both parents became too sick to continue providing for Abraham in any way.

Aunt Josephine is a teacher at Donela School, and she single-handedly looks after nine dependents, only four of whom are her biological children. She became overwhelmed, and had to give up caring for Abraham any longer. Fortunately he was put on Life with Hope and Ewange sponsorship. He is now 17 years old and finishing his Senior 4 year at Donela Bombo High School where he is doing well academically. He currently lives in Student Housing which has really helped him emotionally, physically and spiritually. Thankfully Abraham has a community at Bombo Pentecostal Church. He is involved in the teen ministry and continues to grow in his relationship with the Lord. Thank you for coming alongside Abraham, and supporting him as he moves on to pre-university!

John Ssekaggo
$ .00

John grew up in a family with his three siblings and his HIV+ mother in the town of Wobulenzi. John's father abandoned the family early on. The entire family was dependent on the father as the bread winner, hence his abandonment left the mother and her children hopeless. John's mother could not afford to send her children to school. The family lived in one single rented room, and spent their day just trying to find food. His mother soon found herself unable to pay the rent, and the landlord was threatening to throw them out. It was at this point that our Bombo Pentecostal Church partners came alongside the family and put them on Life with Hope sponsorship. All of the children were able to go to school, and no longer had to help their mother make ends meet.

John is now 17 years old in the Senior 4 class at Bombo Donela, and performs well academically. He has faced some challenges primarily due to peer pressure. John is working with a counselor, and his emotional health continues to improve. He looks forward to going to pre-university through the Align Scholarship Program. Thank you for supporting John as he grows into the man God designed him to be!

Moses grew up in extreme poverty with his HIV+ mother plus three younger siblings in the town of Kakooge. His brother Emmanuel is also a candidate for the Align Scholarship Program. Their father died early on in their lives, and their mother passed just last year from ovarian cancer. The family continues to struggle with the loss of their mother. Being the oldest sibling, Moses seems to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders and selflessly works to care for his younger siblings.

Moses is now 20 years old. He remains in good health and has performed well academically. He credits Life with Hope support for bringing him this far, and is thankful for the opportunity to further his education. The family continues to fellowship at Kakooge Pentecostal church. Thank you for helping Moses as he learns a trade to support his younger siblings!
